Volunteer with us
Serve alongside us.
Individuals, families, and groups sort donations, serve meals, encourage guests, and keep the Mission humming. We sign up volunteers through Virtuous Volunteer (VOMO), our online volunteer hub, so it's easy to find opportunities, see schedules, and stay informed in one place.

Why Virtuous Volunteer
Serving made simple, organized, and meaningful.
Virtuous Volunteer helps us honor our mission by caring well for those who serve. It lets you:
- View and sign up for volunteer opportunities online
- See real-time schedules and openings
- Receive reminders and important updates
- Track your volunteer involvement
- Stay connected with our mission
Recurring volunteers: if you serve with us on a regular basis, your spot is already reserved. If you don't see your usual time after you create an account, don't worry. Becky has saved your spot and will add you to the calendar once you register. Each volunteer needs their own account.

How to create a volunteer account
Fill out our forms
Step 2
After you create your account, you'll be asked to fill out a few Mission volunteer forms.
Wait for approval
Step 3
Mission staff will review your information. Please allow at least 1 day. Once approved, the Requested button disappears.
Pick a time to serve
Step 4
Open the Calendar tab, choose an opportunity and time, click Apply, answer any questions, then Confirm. You'll get a confirmation and reminder emails.
More ways to serve
Groups, meals, and service hours
Group volunteering
Church groups, youth groups, confirmation classes, businesses, and organizations are welcome. Complete the Volunteer Group Form so our team can review your request, coordinate scheduling, and follow up.
Make-A-Meal program
Churches, businesses, and community groups can prepare a meal and bring it to the Mission, or bring it and serve it alongside our staff. Ask about reserving a regular date throughout the year.
Community service hours
Looking to complete community service hours? We'd love to help. Please call Becky at 712-255-1769 to schedule your time.
Volunteer expectations
Serve with a heart aligned to our mission.
We ask all volunteers to:
- Arrive on time and ready to serve
- Communicate if you're unable to attend
- Treat guests, staff, and fellow volunteers with kindness and respect
- Serve with a heart aligned to our mission
If you can't make a shift, find it in the hub and select Leave Opportunity. Whenever possible, let us know at least 2 days ahead so we can fill the spot. Our Volunteer Position Description, Statement of Faith, and Statement of Marriage and Sexuality are available here.

Do I need an account to volunteer?
Yes. All volunteers are asked to create an account in Virtuous Volunteer so we can communicate clearly, manage schedules, and ensure a safe and organized experience.
I've volunteered before. Do I need to sign up again?
Yes. Even returning volunteers need to create an account in the new system.
Can I volunteer with a friend or group?
Absolutely! Each volunteer should have their own account, but you can coordinate sign-ups for the same opportunity and shift.
How will I know when I'm scheduled?
You can view your schedule anytime by logging into your account. You'll also receive email reminders before your shift.
What if I need to cancel?
Log in to your account and remove yourself from the shift as soon as possible so another volunteer can serve.
