Feed the Hungry

Feed the Hungry

Three meals a day, every day.

Here at the Mission, we provide meals for the homeless, hungry, and food-insecure every day. It is our sincere hope that everyone who comes to the Mission hungry and homeless will leave full, not just of food, but of the love of Christ.

Whoever has a bountiful eye will be blessed, for he shares his bread with the poor. Proverbs 22:9

Food Pantry

Our Food Pantry is currently closed.

Through our kitchen ministry, we continue to serve three meals each day. We invite you to join us in the Agape Dining Hall during meal service times, where you will find not only nourishing food but a welcoming community rooted in the love of Jesus Christ.

If you need additional food assistance, see area food pantry information for Sioux City and surrounding rural communities.

How you can help

The greatest current needs in our kitchen

Much of the food shared through our kitchen is generously donated. Every food donation goes directly toward feeding the hungry and demonstrating the love of Jesus Christ in a tangible way. To best support our meal service, we kindly ask donors to prioritize:

  • #10 cans (commercial-sized cans used in institutional kitchens)
  • Frozen food items, such as vegetables, meat, and prepared proteins

These items let us serve large numbers of guests consistently, reduce food waste, and prepare nutritious, hot meals with dignity and care. Small, individual-sized cans are appreciated, but they are much harder for our kitchen to use now that our pantry is closed.

Financial gifts close the gap between the food that is donated and what it takes to serve well-rounded, balanced meals.

Food donation FAQ

Questions about giving food

What is a #10 can?

A large, commercial-sized can used in institutional kitchens like schools, restaurants, and relief organizations. It typically holds about 6–7 pounds of food, ideal for preparing meals for many people at once.

What kinds of foods come in #10 cans?

Common #10 can items include vegetables, fruits, soups, beans, sauces, and meats.

Why are #10 cans so helpful?

Because we serve large groups of guests each day, #10 cans let our kitchen cook efficiently, reduce waste, and steward resources well.

Where can I find #10 food cans?

Usually at warehouse or bulk stores like Sam's Club, or through local restaurant supply retailers in Sioux City.

Will I receive a donation receipt?

Yes. Just request a receipt before you leave, and our staff will gladly help.

Do you accept fresh produce or frozen items?

Yes! Fresh produce and frozen items are both greatly appreciated and help us serve healthy, nourishing meals.

How and where do I drop off food donations?

Call the Mission at 712-255-1769 and ask for Sean, our Kitchen Director, to schedule a convenient drop-off time.

Interested in serving a meal?

We'd love to have you join us in the kitchen to help serve our guests. Churches, businesses, and groups can also prepare and bring a meal through our Make-A-Meal program.
